Architect Peter Pichler drew their shape from the surrounding peaks and village roofs, while broad windows frame the Dolomites. Local timber, deep loden and Martin Schgaguler's large-format mountain photographs bring warmth and texture inside.
The Schgaguler family gives the hotel its character beyond the architecture. South Tyrolean recipes meet Mediterranean influences in the restaurant, with seasonal local produce and a wine selection shaped by Sandra Schgaguler. Later, natural stone, loden seating and a fireplace make the bar an inviting place to settle for the evening.
The ski day starts with a short bus ride from near the hotel to the local lifts. Back in Castelrotto, the spa centres on a 14-metre indoor pool, alongside a warm massage pool, outdoor whirlpool, saunas, steam bath and ice room. There is time for a proper swim, a warm soak and a slower end to the day.
Castelrotto, or Kastelruth, is the largest village in the Dolomites Region Seiser Alm. Its historic centre is known for painted façades, a parish church, an 82-metre bell tower and the green Kofel hill, with shops and everyday village life close at hand.
Buses run from Kastelruth to the Seiser Alm gondola in Seis. The Seiser Alm side is known for broad, approachable slopes, while the linked Gröden area adds steeper terrain. Check the current timetable and lift dates when planning each ski day.
Castelrotto and the surrounding villages mix farmhouse cooking and South Tyrolean classics with Mediterranean dishes, while mountain huts broaden the choice during the ski day. Look out for seasonal farmers' markets and village dumpling festivals.
