Visit the official hotel websiteBerghotel Ladinia has been welcoming travellers since 1930, when Cesco Kostner turned the little house into Corvara's first inn and received licence number one. Floorboards still creak, old objects remain where they belong and timber-framed windows pull Sassongher into view. The Costa family has preserved that character rather than polish it away, so arriving feels less like checking into a resort and more like being let into a much-loved mountain house.
There are only thirteen rooms, each wood-lined and named after a figure from Ladin legend. Their compact dimensions are part of the honesty here, with rooms running from 13 to 17 square metres. Expect simple private bathrooms, warm timber and the occasional useful quirk, such as twin beds that cannot always be joined. Guests need to be at least ten years old. Families with younger children can ask about Ciasa Teresa, the hotel's separate apartment in Corvara.
Days have a pleasingly direct rhythm. When the doorstep piste is open, skis go on at the house for access into Alta Badia. Back inside, half board means breakfast and a four-course dinner in the old Stube, where a short menu draws on local produce and Ladin cooking. There is no spa in the building. Instead, guests can request complimentary access across the way at Hotel La Perla, subject to reservation, availability and its seasonal opening dates. It is a small inn with its priorities beautifully clear.
Yes, when the doorstep piste is open. The piste passes the hotel, giving direct ski access into Alta Badia. Check live lift and piste status rather than treating access as a season-long certainty.
Half board includes a substantial breakfast and a four-course dinner in the hotel's Alpine-style Stube. In some periods, an alternative dining credit may be offered at selected Hotel La Perla restaurants. Check the current choice and participating restaurants when booking.
There is no spa on site. Guests can request complimentary access to Hotel La Perla's spa across from the house. Access requires a reservation, is subject to availability and is offered only during La Perla's June to September and December to March opening periods. Ask the hotel about treatment pricing.
The hotel's rooms welcome guests aged ten and over. Families with younger children are directed to Ciasa Teresa, a separate apartment in Corvara. Confirm its current availability and arrangements directly with the hotel.
Public transport serves Corvara Autostazione. Contact Berghotel Ladinia before travel to plan the final journey to reception, especially with luggage, then recheck live South Tyrol times for your dates.
Corvara sits at 1,568 metres beneath Sassongher and has a long ski history. Alta Badia says its first ski school and Italy's first lift facility began here in the 1930s. The village combines lift access with restaurants, shops, rental services and an ice rink.
Alta Badia has 130 kilometres of pistes and 54 lifts, with direct Sellaronda access and links into a wider 500-kilometre network. Dolomiti Superski's larger 1,200-kilometre total covers 12 separate ski areas, so it should not be read as one continuous circuit.
Participating Alta Badia accommodation can issue the pass for local buses, winter ski buses except the ski bus in Badia, and regional trains. Long-distance trains and named shuttle and summer-bus services are not covered. Ask Berghotel Ladinia whether your stay includes it before relying on the pass.
