Inside Ullrhaus

St. Anton natives Franziska Alber and Michael Gfall created Ullrhaus as a contemporary home in their own mountain town. Munich interior designer Stephanie Thatenhorst worked in pale oak, stone and wool, layering warm neutrals with soft sage and grey-green. The restrained palette is lifted by large windows and considered Tyrolean details, from antique furniture references to local craftsmanship.

The rooms continue that calm, tactile approach, while balconies, kitchens, baths and private saunas vary by category. Downstairs, a 17-metre indoor pool gives the spa enough length for a proper swim. Finnish and bio saunas, a steam bath and relaxation room offer a slower pace, and the firelit lobby draws both travellers and St. Anton locals towards the bar.

Galzigbahn and Rendlbahn are both a few steps away, so the ski day begins on foot. Back at Ullrhaus, equipment goes into a 24-hour locker with heated boot dryers before pool time or a drink by the fire. Food matters here too. Chef-host Michael Gfall and head chef Erkan Cakir move from generous breakfasts to optional four-course dinners and a reservation-only tasting menu on selected winter evenings.
